Mikis joined WPP in 2015 and has over 15 years' experience of working in the health sector across agency, industry and for almost 10 of those years in patient advocacy groups.
He has held three separate directorships at patient groups including Director of Policy & Strategy, Prostate Cancer UK, Director of Policy, Public Affairs & Policy, Asthma UK and Director of Campaigns & Services, Target Ovarian Cancer.
During his tenure in the patient sector, Mikis led a number of high profile access campaigns in England and also oversaw the early phases of the largest outcomes study for prostate cancer globally, working with the Movember Foundation, Public Health England and Leeds University.
In the respiratory field, he played a leading role in securing smoke-free legislation in England, a fact recognised in the CMO’s annual report. Mikis has considerable experience of developing policy initiatives aimed at effecting change including running a number of UK government health pilots (information standard), drafting policy reports and commissioning highly effective patient experience research.
Mikis spent three years at MSD where he was the company’s patient engagement strategy lead and headed Merck’s Health Literacy initiative commissioning ground breaking research in this field. At Ogilvy and latterly WPP Health, Mikis has worked on several OMP projects including in Spinal Muscular Atrophy and Hereditary ATTR amyloidosis covering patient advocacy, policy and market access in UK and EU.
Mikis is based in the London office.
